The Government will set out plans in September to prevent the early release of PC Andrew Harper’s killers, Jessie Cole and Albert Bowers, who are due to be freed in January. The move follows pressure from Harper’s family and police, with over 880,000 people signing a petition against their release.

The government has approved plans for offices, a data centre, and 44 homes near Brick Lane, delivering only six for social rent. Tower Hamlets Council and campaigners opposed the scheme, citing housing shortages and displacement risks for local businesses and residents.
