Shaun Burton, a train driver, died when his London-bound service collided with a stationary train near Bedford on June 19. Investigators found his train accelerated after passing a red signal, with the emergency brake applied seconds before impact. Over 160 passengers were injured.

St Pancras station was evacuated on 18 August 2026 after police carried out a controlled explosion on an unattended silver Nissan with visible damage.
