Ace Café London, a popular venue on the North Circular Road near Stonebridge, will close at 6pm on Friday, October 16th, for the latest in a series of early closures. The decision has been made due to persistent anti-social behaviour and illegal acts occurring on the public highway adjacent to the premises.

This is not the first time the café has been forced to shut early on a Friday. In recent months, multiple instances have led to similar premature closures. A statement released on October 14th indicated that despite temporary closures, the behaviour on the public highway has continued and remains beyond the café's control.

Lack of Policing Cited

Ace Café London has stated that it lacks authority over the public highway and has not received the necessary policing to address the ongoing issues. The café's statement highlighted that the safety and wellbeing of its staff, customers, and the wider community are paramount, necessitating the decision to close.

Viral footage shared in July showed individuals performing dangerous motorbike wheelies in close proximity to police vehicles, illustrating the nature of the behaviour. The café previously attempted to mitigate the problem by increasing the number of marshals on site and introducing additional SIA-licensed security officers. However, these measures proved insufficient to manage the dangerous environment on the surrounding roads.

The café has previously indicated that it has exhausted its efforts to limit acts beyond its control and has not received meaningful support from relevant authorities. This situation leaves the café to manage serious and ongoing challenges independently. A similar measure was enforced last year due to unacceptable behaviour, with warnings issued regarding wheelies, burn-outs, and loud engine revving.

Established in 1938, Ace Café is a well-known destination for motorcyclists. Its normal operating hours are from 8am to 10:30pm daily.
