Fire destroys half of Wembley warehouse

A fire ripped through the ground floor of a two-storey warehouse on Alperton Lane in Wembley on Sunday afternoon. The blaze, which began around 2:47 pm, destroyed half of the ground floor before firefighters brought it under control at 6:24 pm. The London Fire Brigade received 13 calls reporting the incident.

Firefighter Response

Ten fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters were mobilised to tackle the blaze. Crews from Wembley, Acton, Northolt, Southall, Willesden, and Chiswick attended the scene. Footage shared on social media showed smoke billowing from the ground floor windows as emergency services worked to extinguish the flames.

Investigation and Impact

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the London Fire Brigade. The incident also affected several Transport for London lines, including the Metropolitan line, as firefighters worked to contain the fire.

Alperton Lane is located in an area with numerous commercial warehouses, including those used by car dealerships, a plumbers' merchant, and a packaging cash and carry. Several office blocks are also situated in the vicinity.
