Bexley Magician Admits Child Abuse and Image Offences

Kevin Doig, a 66-year-old magician and treasurer of the Bexley Magic Society, has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a nine-year-old girl. He also admitted possessing 1,767 indecent and prohibited images of a child. The pleas were entered at Woolwich Crown Court on Wednesday, 23 September.

Details of Offences

The charges of sexual abuse relate to non-penetrative sexual activity with the nine-year-old girl, which occurred between September 2024 and March 2025. Doig also pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing indecent images of a child and one charge of possessing a prohibited image. These offences involve 1,767 images, including 14 in the most serious Category A classification.

Doig denied one further charge of engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with the same child. The court heard that Doig has a history of performing in pantomimes for 50 years and previously worked as a schoolteacher for 32 years before becoming an eleven plus tutor.

Next Steps

Doig was released on conditional bail. He is scheduled to appear before Woolwich Crown Court again in October for sentencing. As he left the court building, Doig covered his face with a backpack.
