The sentencing took place at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, October 15.
Doig admitted to engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with the girl between September 2024 and March 2025. At a prior hearing, he also pleaded guilty to possessing a significant number of child abuse images. These included 14 Category A, 46 Category B, and 1,767 Category C indecent images of a child, alongside 758 prohibited images.
Sentencing Details
The court imposed a six-month sentence for the indecent images charges and a 20-month sentence for the sexual activity offence. In addition to his prison term, Doig will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must register as a sex offender for the next 10 years.
Doig had a background as a schoolteacher for 32 years before becoming an eleven plus tutor. He was also involved in entertainment as a magician and pantomime performer. Crucially, he served as the chair of The Magic Circle's Young Magicians Club from 2011 to 2022 and held the position of child protection officer for the group for over a decade, as reported by Third Sector.
A spokesperson for The Magic Circle Foundation stated that Doig was asked to resign from the organisation once the allegations against him were brought to their attention.
