Dejan Kulusevski faces driving ban after speeding in Limehouse Link

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dejan Kulusevski is facing a potential six-month driving ban after being caught speeding in east London. The 26-year-old Swedish international was clocked driving at 43mph in a 30mph limit within the Limehouse Link tunnel on September 28.

Kulusevski pleaded guilty to the offence in August. The Metropolitan Police informed the court that the player now has at least 12 penalty points on his licence, which puts him at risk of disqualification.

Appeal for Licence Retention

The footballer has appealed to magistrates to allow him to retain his driving licence. In an email submitted to the court, Kulusevski stated that his young family requires him to drive them to various appointments and for potential hospital visits. He also noted that his work schedule involves late finishes, often returning from away games late at night, and he needs his licence to travel to and from training.

Kulusevski acknowledged that his offences were "mostly just over the varying speed limits in London areas" but accepted he was over the limit. Motorists accumulating 12 penalty points can appeal to avoid a six-month ban by proving that disqualification would cause "exceptional hardship."

Kulusevski is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Monday. He has been sidelined with a knee injury since May 2025 and recently returned to full training.
