Driver admits killing Laura Sone-Demetrious on A10

Sedor Olmez, aged 20, has pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to causing the death of Laura Sone-Demetrious in a collision on the A10 Great Cambridge Road in Enfield. The incident occurred on January 9, 2024. Olmez admitted two charges: causing death by dangerous driving and driving the vehicle uninsured. He was 17 years old at the time of the collision and has no prior convictions, as reported by MyLondon.

Court Proceedings and Sentencing

Judge Lynn Tayton KC ordered a pre-sentence report for Olmez before his sentencing, which is scheduled for early November. The judge warned Olmez that he faces a custodial sentence. He was disqualified from driving with immediate effect and granted continued unconditional bail. A co-defendant, Roderick Mirzakhanian, 31, also faces a charge of causing death by dangerous driving. Mirzakhanian's plea hearing has been adjourned until October 2, and he was also granted unconditional bail.

Victim's Family's Tribute

Laura Sone-Demetrious, 28, has been remembered by her family as a "bubbly, caring" woman. Her younger sister, Gina, described Laura as her role model and someone who always offered protection. Gina Sone-Demetrious told MyLondon that she would miss every aspect of her sister's presence, including her smile and laughter. The family stated that her death has made it difficult for them to come to terms with their loss.
