Former Essex cricketer Robin Das has appeared in court facing two charges of rape. The 24-year-old, who resides in Leytonstone, east London, is accused of committing the alleged offences in Brixton, south London, during March 2024.

Das appeared at Inner London Crown Court, where Judge Freya Newbury scheduled a five-day trial to commence in January 2028. The court heard that the trial date was set amidst current court pressures. Das was granted conditional bail at the conclusion of the hearing.

Arrest and Club Action

The Metropolitan Police arrested Das in August 2025, with charges being brought in July. The cricketer made 60 appearances for Essex County Cricket Club, with his last match being a One-Day Cup fixture against Middlesex on 21 July. Following his arrest, the Chelmsford-based club suspended him and subsequently did not renew his contract at the end of the season.

Essex County Cricket Club stated that their decision regarding his contract was separate from the ongoing legal proceedings. A club spokesman added that the organisation acknowledges the gravity of the situation and would not offer further comment on the case's specifics. The club had previously indicated that the alleged incidents took place outside of club activities.
