A trial date has been set for Daniel Sean James, who is accused of murdering Kirandeep Kaur in Hayes. James, 44, faces a charge of murder following the alleged fatal stabbing of Ms Kaur, 24, in her home on Uxbridge Road, Hayes, west London. The alleged attack took place in the early hours of 12 July. James is currently being held in custody.

The trial is scheduled to begin on 12 April next year at Isleworth Crown Court. James was due to appear at the court on Monday but was not present. His lawyer, Jonathan Higgs KC, informed the court that James now uses a wheelchair. However, prosecutor Mukul Chawla KC stated that the defendant was "fully ambulatory" up until the time of the alleged offence.

Ms Kaur, originally from the Punjab in India, had moved to London two years before her death. Her family told the BBC shortly after her death that they "never thought such a thing could happen to her in London".
