Louis Taylor jailed for 20 years for Gravesend rape and wounding

Louis Taylor, aged 32, received a 20-year prison sentence at Woolwich Crown Court on August 21, 2026. The sentence follows his guilty plea to eight criminal offences, including three counts of rape and wounding with intent.

Details of the Attack

The violent attack occurred on October 18, 2025, in Gravesend. During the incident, Taylor subjected his victim to extreme violence and sexual assault. The victim managed to escape the premises and sought help at a petrol station on City Way in Rochester, where members of the public were asked to contact the police. Officers attended the scene and took the victim into their care.

According to reports from the victim to the police, Taylor dragged her by her hair and neck, kicked her multiple times with steel toe-capped boots, punched her, and struck her with a hoover pole. He then sexually assaulted and raped her before forcing her into a car and issuing threats if she made any noise. Taylor was arrested on the same day as the attack.

Further Offences and Sentencing

While in custody, additional offences committed by Taylor came to light, including a previous rape and assault. His guilty plea encompassed charges of rape, wounding with intent, assault by penetration, burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, attempted grievous bodily harm, and kidnapping. The judge commended the victim's bravery and the evidence she provided, which was instrumental in securing justice. Detective Constable Rachel Ford stated that the severity of the sentence reflects the gravity of his crimes and the trauma inflicted upon the victim, adding that Taylor is now incarcerated and unable to cause further harm.

In addition to his prison sentence, Louis Taylor has been placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.
