Seven people have been charged by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) following an investigation by the Food Standards Agency’s National Food Crime Unit (NFCU). The charges relate to conspiring to supply unfit meat, with two individuals also facing animal cruelty offences. Three of the seven defendants are based in London and appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

Court proceedings

The defendants appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court following a lengthy and complex investigation. Those who appeared via video-link were Tudor Organ, 30, William Organ, 54, Simon Jones, 36, and David Hird, 29, all from Carmarthen. Richard Agyemang, 58, Amjad Buttar, 58, and Abdul Rahman, 56, were present in court and are all London residents. All seven were committed to Southwark Crown Court for a hearing scheduled for 11 November 2026 and are on unconditional bail.

Investigation details

The charges authorised by the CPS include that all seven defendants conspired to supply unfit meat. Tudor Organ and William Organ also face charges of animal cruelty for carrying out an act that caused an animal to suffer. The NFCU has been working with the CPS, which is prosecuting the case. Dean Quick, from the CPS’s Serious Economic Organised Crime and International Directorate, stated that prosecutors had worked to ensure there was sufficient evidence and that it was in the public interest to proceed. He reminded all concerned that proceedings are active and defendants have the right to a fair trial, urging against reporting that could prejudice the case.
