Sergiu Chiriac, aged 32, has been jailed for 20 years after a jury found him guilty of 12 offences including rape, actual bodily harm (ABH), and child cruelty. The convictions followed a trial at Inner London Crown Court in February. He will serve four years on licence.

Investigation launched after victim's injuries

The Metropolitan Police investigation began on March 31, 2025, when a relative of the victim contacted officers. The victim had presented with extensive injuries. Responding officers found signs of disorder and blood staining at Chiriac’s property. Evidence gathered indicated the victim had been attacked, prevented from leaving the premises, and threatened with a knife.

Chiriac was arrested and initially charged with ABH, criminal damage, and child assault. He was remanded in custody. Further details of other incidents, including rape, were later provided by the victim to the Metropolitan Police, leading to additional charges in September 2025.

Detective's statement

Detective Constable Izzy Glanvill, who led the Metropolitan Police investigation, described Chiriac as a dangerous and predatory individual responsible for a sustained pattern of violence and sexual abuse. DC Glanvill commended the victim for her courage in supporting the investigation, stating the verdict would provide a measure of comfort that Chiriac has been held accountable.

The victim expressed surprise at the support she received and stated she felt genuinely peaceful and happy following the sentencing. She thanked the police, the justice system, the NHS, and other agencies for their assistance.
