Mohammed Abdullah, a 19-year-old from West Drayton, Hillingdon, has been sentenced to six years and nine months in prison for rape and sexual assault. He was found guilty by a jury at Bournemouth Crown Court.

The attack took place in a portable toilet on Bournement seafront. Abdullah had offered the victim a lift home on his e-bike after she had been out with friends. The court heard that the victim had consumed a significant amount of alcohol. Abdullah then stopped at the portable toilet where he assaulted and raped her. The victim reported that she had struggled and sustained a burst lip during the assault. She sought help from passers-by after Abdullah rode away.

Background and Conviction

Abdullah arrived in the UK from Syria in 2023 and was living in West Drayton, within the London borough of Hillingdon, at the time of the offences. He had been granted permanent leave to remain under a family reunion scheme. During his trial, Abdullah attempted to argue that the sexual encounter was consensual. He was convicted of rape and sexual assault by penetration.

Detective Inspector Shaun Inkpen of Dorset Police acknowledged the victim's bravery in coming forward and reporting the incident. He stated that her evidence was crucial in securing the conviction. Samantha Wright, senior crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), commented that violence against women and girls has no place in communities and that the CPS will continue to prosecute such offenders.

In addition to his prison sentence, Abdullah has been placed on the sex offenders register for life.
