Sussexes condemn 'reckless' paparazzi near children's school

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have strongly condemned what they termed "unacceptable intrusion" after international paparazzi were seen scouting their children's school. A spokesman for the couple described the behaviour as "extraordinarily reckless" and demonstrated an "extraordinary lack of judgement".

Incident at the school

Two individuals, identified as international photographers driving a rental van, were observed by private security and school staff walking the perimeter of the school grounds. They were seen stopping at various points and looking into the school. The Duke and Duchess stated there is a significant difference between legitimate media activity and photographers monitoring children near their school.

The couple, who are no longer working royals, moved their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to a new school in September. This followed security concerns at their initial school choice, where heavy traffic during the school run made it difficult for their private security team to maintain a convoy. The children are understood to have been attending their new school for approximately two weeks.

Prince Harry recently commented on his children's happiness at their new school. Speaking to CTV News, he stated, "The kids are happy in school, and it gives me a chance to be able to really focus on the Invictus Games." The Sussexes are currently awaiting a decision on whether they will receive taxpayer-funded security.

The incident has drawn parallels to the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, who was killed in a car crash while being pursued by paparazzi in Paris.
