Residents in Chelsea discovered their luxury vehicles had been targeted by thieves overnight, who stole wing mirrors. The thefts occurred on Sunday night or in the early hours of Monday morning, affecting cars parked on three streets in the west London neighbourhood.

The vehicles targeted included a BMW X3, a Porsche Macan, a Jaguar Fpace, and a Mercedes C-class. The stolen wing mirrors are valuable due to integrated electronic technology such as anti-fogging, heating, and anti-glare features. These components can be quickly removed by criminals.

High Value of Stolen Parts

The total cost to replace the stolen mirrors is estimated to be more than £40,000. One car owner, whose BMW was affected, told The Citizen newspaper that the thieves had identified a new method for profit. He noted that expensive cars are common in Chelsea, making it a target area for such crimes. The owner mentioned that his new car was stolen from just five days after delivery.

Police Investigation

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated that inquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation.
