Katie Price denies vengeful campaign against ex-husband Kieran Hayler

Reality television personality Katie Price has told Lewes Crown Court that she harbours no anger or vengeful feelings towards her former husband, Kieran Hayler. Mr Hayler is currently on trial, facing accusations of three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault against a 13-year-old girl. The alleged incidents are said to have occurred in West Sussex in 2016.

During her evidence, given from behind a screen, Ms Price was questioned by Mr Hayler’s defence lawyer, Arlette Piercy. Ms Piercy suggested that Ms Price had demonstrated a long-standing vendetta against Mr Hayler. Ms Price firmly rejected this assertion, stating, "That is not true."

When asked about her awareness of media coverage surrounding the trial, Ms Price explained that she had not read any reports. She attributed this to her recent involvement in a Channel 4 reality television programme, where she was reportedly "handcuffed to Suella Braverman all week." Ms Price added that she had not followed any news related to the proceedings.

Ms Price also denied having any animosity towards Mr Hayler, describing their separation as amicable. She told the court that she was profoundly shocked by the allegations when she first learned of them. "It was a different kettle of fish, it’s a child," she stated to the jury.

The court heard that Mr Hayler, who was married to Ms Price at the time of the alleged offences, denies the charges. His defence has put forward the suggestion that Ms Price initiated a campaign against him following the breakdown of their marriage. The couple's relationship ended in 2018, and they were divorced in 2021. The alleged victim is not related to either Mr Hayler or Ms Price's families.

The trial at Lewes Crown Court is continuing.
