Man rescued from Finsbury Park building fire

A man was rescued from the roof of a terraced building in Finsbury Park after a fire broke out in the early hours of Thursday morning. The London Fire Brigade received an alert about the blaze at a residential block and commercial unit on Seven Sisters Road at approximately 3.36am.

Firefighter Response

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Crews from Holloway, Stoke Newington, Kentish Town, and Islington attended the incident. Before firefighters arrived, three people had already managed to escape the building. A fourth person was subsequently rescued from the roof by the brigade using a ladder.

Firefighters used a 32-metre turntable ladder as a water tower to tackle the flames from above. The blaze was brought under control by 5.29am. The roof of the end-of-terrace building sustained damage. All four individuals who were in the building have been taken to hospital.

Station Commander Duncan Rees, who was present at the scene, stated that crews worked in difficult conditions to control the fire and rescue a person. He added that members of the public were asked to avoid the area while crews worked. Firefighters remained at the scene on Thursday morning to dampen down any remaining hotspots and ensure the area's safety.

Investigation

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
