Migrant boat lands undetected in Folkestone

He also highlighted that current crossing numbers are the lowest in six years, with efforts being made to reduce the asylum backlog and close asylum hotels, indicating that government strategies are proving effective. He added that any identified gaps in the system would be addressed to meet the government's political objective of securing borders.

A spokesperson for Kent Police confirmed that patrols attended an incident involving a vessel at 9:26 am on Monday, September 21, 2026, after being made aware by the Coastguard. A Home Office spokesperson described the event as an isolated and rare incident, stating that officers responded promptly to detain the five individuals. The spokesperson added that an investigation is ongoing and declined to comment further.
