The 2017 Incident
The incident in 2017 gained significant public attention and became a notable unsolved case. Shocking CCTV footage from the morning of May 5, 2017, showed a male jogger running across Putney Bridge and abruptly knocking a female pedestrian into the road. The oncoming number 430 bus narrowly avoided hitting her due to the quick reactions of the driver, Oliver Salbris, who swerved to avoid the collision.
Detectives had previously interviewed 50 men and arrested three suspects in connection with the case. One of these was an American investment banker who provided proof of being in the United States at the time of the incident. No suspect was charged, and the investigation was closed in 2018. However, new information reportedly led to the recent arrest.
The suspect has since been released under investigation. This means he is not currently subject to bail conditions but will be informed of the investigation's outcome.
