Actor Shane Richie has been banned from driving for six months following a speeding offence. The 62-year-old, known for his role as Alfie Moon in EastEnders, admitted the charge. The case was heard at Guildford Magistrates’ Court.
Fines and Surcharges
Magistrate Sheila Hewitt ordered Richie, whose real name is Shane Roche, to pay a £500 fine. He was also required to cover £120 in costs and a £200 victim surcharge. Richie entered his guilty plea in writing, and the case was processed under the Single Justice Procedure on September 23. The actor resides in Tadworth, Surrey.
Separate Drink-Driving Allegation
Richie is also currently awaiting trial for an alleged drink-driving offence. This incident is reported to have occurred on July 29 in Harlow, Essex. He is accused of driving a white Hyundai car in Church Langley Way while over the legal alcohol limit. A breath sample allegedly showed 65 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35 micrograms.
The actor denies this allegation. His trial is scheduled to take place on November 17, 2027, at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.
