Thief Intimidates Teen Worker in Orpington Salon Raid

A 19-year-old employee at Beau Tanning Lounge in Orpington was intimidated by a thief who stole cash from the premises on October 3. The incident occurred while the young worker was alone in the salon.

The Incident Unfolds

The thief entered the salon through an open door while the employee was cleaning a tanning bed. Upon returning, the staff member found the intruder attempting to take a drink from the salon's refrigerator. Footage shows the employee attempting to intervene before the thief intimidated her and fled with money.

Salon owner Lucia Halliday, 32, stated she was devastated and sickened by the event. She believes the intruder may have waited outside for an opportunity to enter. Ms Halliday reported that her employee is now feeling very anxious and will need time to recover from the experience.

Ms Halliday expressed her distress, noting that the salon is only in its first year of operation. She stated that the thought of someone intruding on her employee's space was horrific, more so than the amount of money taken. Despite the incident, she is determined to keep the business open and not give the perpetrator the satisfaction of closing its doors.

Police Investigation

Following the incident, Ms Halliday contacted the police. Forensic teams attended the scene to investigate, as the thief had reportedly handled the refrigerator without gloves. The exact amount of money stolen is still being determined by the salon owner.
