Two men held in London over Manchester terror plot

The men were detained under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and have since been transferred to a police station in London. Warrants for further detention were granted on September 22, allowing police to hold the individuals until September 27. Searches have been completed at addresses on Epworth Street in Liverpool and Lancaster Road in Salford as part of the ongoing enquiries.
Investigation details
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Vicki Evans, senior national coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing, described the operation as a long-running proactive investigation that disrupted a plot targeting the Jewish community in the Manchester area. She assured the public that Counter Terrorism Policing continues to focus on identifying and disrupting those who wish to cause harm. The investigation is supported by CTP North West, Greater Manchester Police, and Merseyside Police.
Ms Evans acknowledged that the news might cause concern, particularly during the High Holy day period. She stated that police are working closely with partners to ensure the safety of the Jewish community and the wider public. Protective security advice is being provided to areas with Jewish communities across the country. Ms Evans confirmed that there is not believed to be any ongoing threat to the public.
