Clapham bus driver Auguste-Marie Bile-aka Amoa shot dead on Willington Road

A 25-year-old bus driver was pronounced dead at the scene after a shooting on Willington Road in Clapham on the evening of 10 August. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the victim’s identity as Auguste-Marie Bile-aka Amoa, a resident of Lambeth.

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews arrived at 21:57hrs following reports of gunshots. Despite efforts to save him, Bile-aka Amoa was declared dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination is expected to take place in the coming days.

Arrest made the following day

A 22-year-old man presented at a hospital with a gunshot wound shortly after the incident. He was arrested on 11 August on suspicion of murder and remains in hospital under police guard. The Metropolitan Police have not released his name.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Guiver, who is leading the investigation, said the force is working urgently to establish the full circumstances. She appealed directly to the public for assistance.

Guiver urged anyone who was in the area at the time, witnessed anything suspicious, or has CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage to contact police. She emphasised that even small details could prove vital to the investigation.

The Metropolitan Police have asked for information to be reported via the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 8379/10AUG. Alternatively, witnesses can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The investigation remains active, with detectives continuing to piece together the events leading up to the shooting. No further arrests have been made at this stage.
