Man arrested after imitation firearm scare prompts school lockdown

Several eyewitnesses informed the police that they believed the item in question was a toy. Following an investigation, a 22-year-old man was taken into custody on September 17. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm with the intent to cause fear.
School Lockdown Implemented
Menorah Grammar School initiated a precautionary lockdown as a result of the incident. Staff and pupils were instructed to remain inside the school premises, with students kept in their classrooms. This measure was taken as a precaution.
Shomrim NW London confirmed the incident was resolved. A spokesperson stated on the day of the event that Metropolitan Police units had attended the scene and that the situation was contained with no ongoing danger to the public. The Community Security Trust (CST) also stated there was no indication that the incident was connected to the Jewish community.
The arrested man remains in custody. The Metropolitan Police have asked anyone with information to call 101, quoting reference number 4908/16SEP.
