A Metropolitan Police officer, Pc Omer Farok, has been dismissed for gross misconduct following an incident where he pushed a homeless man into a wall and onto the pavement. The encounter in Parker Street, central London, resulted in the man requiring hospital treatment for a head injury.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigated the circumstances, which involved Pc Farok attending reports of a man entering an unattended vehicle. Footage of the incident showed the officer repeatedly pushing the man into a brick wall, using disrespectful language, and ignoring requests for explanation. The IOPC stated the officer manipulated handcuffs in a way that caused pain while accusing the man of resisting.

As Pc Farok took the man to the ground with force, the man was unable to break his fall and landed face-first on the pavement. He suffered a laceration near his right eyebrow, which required hospital attention and resulted in a pool of blood on the ground, according to the IOPC. The watchdog noted the officer continued to shout about resisting despite the man being injured and on the ground.

A gross misconduct hearing, organised by the Metropolitan Police, concluded that Pc Farok breached police standards of professional behaviour concerning use of force, and authority, respect and courtesy. He was dismissed with immediate effect and will be placed on the College of Policing barred list, preventing future employment in policing.

Amanda Rowe, IOPC director of engagement, stated that officers must exercise powers lawfully and with self-control, treating the public with respect. She added that Pc Farok used unnecessary, unreasonable, and disproportionate force, resulting in a head injury. Ms Rowe commented that such conduct damages public confidence and falls below expected standards.

Pc Farok had previously faced a charge of assault by beating following the IOPC's investigation, which concluded in December 2024. He was cleared of this charge following a trial in November 2025.
