PC Idominik Efeotor dismissed for social media policy breaches

A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed from duty after breaching social media policies on multiple occasions. PC Idominik Efeotor, who was based within the Parliamentary & Diplomatic Protection Command, faced allegations concerning his conduct on public platforms, all of which were found to be proven.

Offensive Content and Sensitive Disclosures

An accelerated misconduct hearing on 14 September heard that between 2024 and 2026, PC Efeotor published his own podcast episodes and social media content. In these, he identified himself as a serving officer. His posts contained offensive, insulting, and derogatory language directed at other officers, staff, and individuals. He also discussed sensitive information related to misconduct proceedings. Furthermore, he published material that could have led to the identification of an officer who was subject to an anonymity direction.

PC Efeotor had initially disclosed his podcast as a business interest, but permission for this was later withdrawn. Despite this, he continued to publish episodes and linked social media content, even after receiving repeated warnings about his conduct.

Commander's Statement on Dismissal

Commander Adam Slonecki, head of Specialist Operations, stated that the dismissal was due to repeated breaches of standards and the harmful impact of PC Efeotor's actions. "Our officers can be in no doubt as to how they are expected to act on social media, and it is clear that PC Efeotor breached these standards on many occasions and despite repeated warnings," Commander Slonecki said. He added that such behaviour undermines public confidence and had a harmful and lasting impact on those criticised and his colleagues. "There is no place in policing for anyone whose values are so far removed from what we would expect, and it is right he has been dismissed from the organisation," he stated.

PC Efeotor's actions constituted breaches of the Standards of Professional Behaviour concerning discreditable conduct, orders and instructions, authority, respect and courtesy, and confidentiality. He was dismissed without notice.

Future Restrictions

As a consequence of his dismissal, PC Efeotor will be placed on the College of Policing Barred List. This prevents him from working in policing in the future.
