Woman assaulted on Elizabeth line train; BTP asks public for help

British Transport Police said a woman was sexually assaulted on an Elizabeth line service as it pulled into Bond Street station on the evening of Sunday 19 April 2026. The incident was reported to officers on the train and later to the control room.

Timeline of the attack

According to the police, the man boarded the train at Tottenham Court Road at about 7.30pm. When the carriage reached Bond Street, he allegedly forced himself on the passenger. He then moved through the crowd to avoid detection and left the train at Ealing Broadway.

Police appeal for information

Detectives have published stills taken from CCTV showing the suspect wearing a black Under Armour cap and shirt, a moustache, a goatee and a tattoo on his left forearm. The images are being circulated in the hope that commuters or station staff can identify him.

The police request that anyone who recognises the man contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 115 of 20 April. Anonymous tips can also be sent to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Impact on commuters

The incident has raised safety concerns among regular users of the Elizabeth line, particularly on the busy central section between Tottenham Court Road and Ealing Broadway. Transport operators have reminded passengers to report any suspicious behaviour and to use the on‑board emergency contact points.

British Transport Police confirmed that the investigation remains active and that additional CCTV footage from stations along the route is being examined. No further arrests have been announced at this stage.
