Collett Bartley, 42, crashed a Volkswagen Tiguan into a Tesco Express in Sydenham on 10 June 2026 while over the drink-driving limit. She received a 21-month ban, a community order, and a £120 fine after pleading guilty at Croydon Magistrates' Court on 18 August.

Dylan Patel, 26, from Southall, was piloting a two-seat Cessna that crashed in a field off Mill Lane, Ongar, killing both occupants. Essex Police have opened a criminal investigation, suspending the inquest until its conclusion. Post-mortems found both men died from multiple injuries.
