Owners of the Burn Bullock pub in Mitcham are still storing cars on their site, defying a Merton Council enforcement notice. The Grade II-listed building suffered fire damage in April 2024 and is on the Heritage at Risk Register, prompting criticism of the council's enforcement record.
A 16-year-old boy was stabbed and robbed in Mitcham on Sunday, September 13. The incident occurred on Yorkshire Road and the victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made and police investigations are ongoing.

A Mitcham resident has admitted fraudulently claiming Universal Credit by hiding savings over £16,000. Jane Turner, 66, pleaded guilty at Croydon Magistrates' Court on 7 August 2026. She remains on unconditional bail ahead of sentencing on 16 October 2026.
