A W19 bus collided with a car before striking a shop on Markhouse Road in Walthamstow at approximately 7:30 am on October 19th. The incident led to the closure of the road for over an hour while emergency services attended the scene.

The bus operator, Stagecoach, and Transport for London (TfL) have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

Incident details

The collision involved a car and the W19 bus, which subsequently made contact with a nearby tech repair shop. The shop's owner, Nads, told the Waltham Forest Echo that he was unable to open his business due to damage to the shutters. He stated that shelves inside the shop were filled with laptops and other technology that had fallen to the floor.

Nads also suggested that the car involved in the incident had attempted to overtake the bus as it was turning from Markhouse Road into Markhouse Avenue. A TfL spokesperson reiterated that safety is a priority and confirmed collaboration with Stagecoach to determine the cause.

Markhouse Road was fully reopened to traffic by 10 am on the same day.
