25-year-old man arrested after woman dies in Lewisham's Connington Road

A woman died in Connington Road, Lewisham, in the early hours of 5 August 2026. Police were called to reports of an unresponsive woman at 6.12am and declared her dead at the scene. She was 28 years old.

Connington Road was cordoned off at 5.58am after ambulances arrived. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the woman’s next-of-kin have been informed. The death is being treated as unexpected.

Arrest and investigation

A 25-year-old man was arrested later that morning in relation to the incident. Police have not released further details about the suspect or the circumstances leading to the woman’s death.

Detective Inspector Steven Andrews, who is leading the investigation, said the case remains at a very early stage. Officers are conducting multiple lines of enquiry to establish what happened.
