28-year-old man dies after Clerkenwell stabbing

A murder investigation is underway following the death of a 28-year-old man in Clerkenwell. Police were alerted to Lloyd Baker Street at approximately 11:20 PM on Wednesday, September 16, where they discovered the victim with stab wounds. He was transported to hospital but was pronounced dead on Thursday, September 17.

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart stated that the incident is tragic and that the thoughts of the police are with the victim's family and friends. He assured residents that additional officers would be present in the area to provide reassurance and work with partners to ensure public safety. The victim was found on a residential street, and the Chief Superintendent appealed to members of the public who may possess information crucial to the investigation to come forward.

The man's next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from specially trained officers. At present, no arrests have been made, and officers are conducting urgent inquiries.

Increased Police Powers

A Section 60 order has been implemented, authorising officers to stop and search individuals and vehicles without the necessity of establishing reasonable suspicion. This order is effective across the Caledonian Road and Hoxton areas from 4 PM on Friday, September 18, until 6 AM on Saturday, September 19. The order was also reported to cover the Clerkenwell area in Source 1.
