Arrest and investigation
Metropolitan Police arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of murder shortly after the incident. He remains in custody while officers continue their investigation.
Detective Inspector Richard MacKenzie, who is leading the inquiry, said the incident appeared to be isolated. He confirmed that police would maintain a visible presence in the area throughout the day.
“We believe this to be an isolated incident within a residential address, but we know it will cause concern locally. Our officers will remain in the area throughout today.”
MacKenzie urged anyone with information, CCTV or doorbell footage to come forward. Police have set up a forensic tent at the scene and are reviewing evidence.
