Covent Garden rape: Police seek man in CCTV appeal
A woman in her 20s was attacked in Macklin Street in the early hours of Saturday, August 22.

The incident took place around 05:20hrs when a woman in her 20s was approached by an unknown man. He is reported to have dragged her into a doorway before assaulting her. The victim managed to escape and reported the matter to the Metropolitan Police shortly afterwards. She is currently receiving support from specialist officers.
Investigation and Appeal
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Ridley, who is leading the investigation, stated that identifying the man is a priority, as is supporting the victim. He indicated that extensive CCTV enquiries have shown the man moving alone through the West End for at least two hours before the incident.
The man is described as white, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, with short brown hair. Police believe that his appearance, clothing, or his presence in the area during the early hours of that Saturday morning may be recognised by someone.
While there is currently no evidence linking this offence to any other incidents, detectives stress the importance of speaking to this individual as soon as possible. They urge anyone who may recognise the man or have any information, no matter how small, to come forward.
