Four die in separate London traffic incidents over 48 hours

Four people have died in separate traffic incidents across London within a 48-hour period. The collisions occurred in Highgate, Curnick’s Lane, North Kensington, and Holloway.

Highgate Collision

On September 24, emergency services were called to North Road, Highgate, at 8.13am following reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. A 16-year-old girl, identified as Melissa Premaratne, a student at Highgate School, was found with serious injuries and pronounced dead at the scene. A 68-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. Enquiries are continuing.

Curnick’s Lane Incident

Later the same day, September 24, police responded to Curnick’s Lane at 2.55pm after reports of a collision between a van and a pedestrian. A 92-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van, a 72-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death whilst driving without insurance and causing death by dangerous driving. The victim's next of kin are receiving support from police.

North Kensington Fatality

In the early hours of September 25, shortly after 1.20am, North Pole Road in North Kensington was cordoned off by police following a crash. A 24-year-old man, who was believed to be riding an e-bike, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the moped involved failed to stop, and police are conducting enquiries to locate them.

Holloway Crash

The fourth fatality occurred on Tollington Road, Holloway, around 11.30am on September 25. Police attended a crash involving a motorcyclist and a bus. The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was found unconscious and pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of emergency services. Police are working to inform his next of kin. No arrests have been made in connection with this incident.
