Victor Arotsky, a 53-year-old father of three from Hendon, sustained life-changing injuries after a collision involving a Lime bike and a coach near the Houses of Parliament. The incident occurred while Mr Arotsky was on a lunchtime jog.

The collision caused Mr Arotsky to go into cardiac arrest. Police officers and paramedics at the scene performed CPR and resuscitated him before he was taken to hospital. He subsequently spent a total of 14 weeks in hospital and rehabilitation facilities.

Devastating Injuries

As reported by MyLondon, Mr Arotsky is now blind in one eye and has partial sight in the other. He also suffered hearing loss in one ear. He later expressed gratitude to the London Ambulance Service staff who saved his life, stating, “If I lived 1,000 more years, there still would not be enough time for me to express the gratitude I have to everyone who helped rescue me that day.”

Paramedic Caitlin Gray, who was among those who treated Mr Arotsky, described the scene as extremely worrying. She told MyLondon, “His injuries were so severe that it was clear he was critically unwell and needed urgent care.” She added that the swift actions of paramedics, police, and other first responders were critical to his survival.

Chief Paramedic Pauline Cranmer QAM highlighted the incident as an example of effective emergency response. She stated, “Victor’s incredible rescue was a true team effort, with every person playing a vital role in his care.”

Mr Arotsky has since reunited with the paramedics, Scott Lummes, Charlotte Miller, and Caitlin Gray, who provided his initial care. He also reportedly apologised to colleagues for his extended absence from the office following the lunchtime incident.
