Police are appealing for information following an attempted rape in Islington. The incident occurred on July 4 at approximately 3:20 am. A woman in her early 20s was approached by a man on Essex Road. He then led her into the entrance of a building on Church Road, where he physically assaulted her and attempted to rape her.

The attack was interrupted when two members of the public heard the woman shouting for help. Their intervention caused the suspect to flee the scene towards the Angel area. The victim is being supported by specialist officers, according to Detective Chief Inspector Paul Ridley.

Reward and Appeal for Information

Crimestoppers, an independent crime charity, has offered a £10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. DCI Paul Ridley announced the reward on BBC’s Crimewatch Live. He stated that while extensive enquiries have been made, public assistance is needed to trace the suspect.
