A 25-year-old man was shot dead outside the Landor pub on Willington Road in Clapham on Monday evening. Metropolitan Police officers pronounced him dead at the scene shortly before 10 pm. A forensic tent was later erected near Lopez House, where the shooting occurred.

A 22-year-old man attended hospital with a gunshot wound after the incident. Police arrested him on suspicion of murder. The Metropolitan Police said it is unclear whether his injury is linked to the fatal shooting. He remains in hospital, and his condition has not been updated.

Lambeth gun crime rises to third-highest in London

Lambeth recorded 88 gun-related offences between August 2025 and July 2026, according to Metropolitan Police data. This places the borough third in London for gun crime, behind Enfield and Brent, which recorded 110 and 108 offences respectively.

Lambeth also had the highest number of incidents involving a lethal barrel discharge, with 13 recorded. Across London, police logged 1,679 gun-related offences in the same period, a decrease from 1,918 the previous year but an increase from 1,492 two years earlier.

Police appeal for witnesses

A local resident told the Standard he heard three gunshots on Monday evening. He said he saw someone run out of the pub shouting, "Call the police." Floral tributes have since been left near the scene.

What happens next
