Man charged with murder of Ahmed Jama in Islington

A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder after Ahmed Jama, 50, died from head injuries sustained during an assault on Hungerford Road in Islington. The incident occurred in the early hours of 10 July 2026.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to the scene at 04:00 on 10 July following reports of an assault. Jama, who lived in Camden and was known to family and friends as Jaqanaf, was found with serious head injuries. He was taken to hospital but died five days later on 15 July.

Arrests and charges

Mohamed Touitha, of Melyn Close, Islington, was arrested on suspicion of murder on 28 July 2026. He was charged the following day and will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 30 July 2026.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in Islington on 22 July 2026 on suspicion of murder but was released on police bail while investigations continue. The Metropolitan Police confirmed this in a statement on 29 July 2026.

Two women, aged 18 and 19, were arrested on 12 July 2026 on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. They remain on bail, the police said.
