A man in his 20s has died after a tree fell onto his car in north London. The incident occurred on Dollis Road in Finchley at around 12:40 GMT on Sunday. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police were called to Dollis Road following reports that a tree had fallen onto a moving vehicle. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson stated that incident response officers, paramedics from its hazardous area response team, and a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance were dispatched.

Chief Inspector Guy Ellwood, from the North West Command Unit, said: "This is a deeply tragic incident and our thoughts are with the loved ones of the young man who lost his life." The Met Office had issued an amber wind warning for parts of the UK, urging people to stay indoors where possible due to the dangerous conditions.

The severe weather, identified as Storm Boelo, also caused widespread power outages. The Energy Networks Association reported that over 90,000 properties were without electricity as of 19:00 GMT on Sunday. The association noted that dangerous conditions were limiting network engineers' ability to safely begin repair work.

Separately, in Aberfeldy, two women were taken to hospital after being struck by a fallen tree around 12:50 GMT on Sunday, according to police reports. The BBC report indicated that two men had died from falling trees on Sunday, with the Finchley incident being one of them. The other fatality occurred in Dumfries and Galloway.
