Man stabbed in Islington discharged after South Place attack

A man was stabbed in Islington late on 13 August 2026 and taken to a major trauma centre for treatment. The victim has since been discharged from hospital, City of London Police said. The attack occurred at South Place, near Finsbury Circus Gardens, at around 11:20 pm.

Detective Inspector Ben Hurley, of City of London Police, said officers were called to reports of a stabbing at the location. He confirmed that enquiries are continuing but no arrests have been made. Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Emergency response

The London Ambulance Service received the call at 11:24 pm, four minutes after police. A spokesperson said they dispatched an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer, and a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance.

The first paramedic arrived at the scene in less than five minutes. The patient was treated on site before being taken to hospital as a priority. The speed of the response was critical in ensuring the victim received immediate medical attention.
