Police seek men after girl, 13, allegedly raped in Bethnal Green park

Detectives are seeking to identify two men seen on CCTV in connection with the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl in Weavers Fields, Bethnal Green. The incident is reported to have occurred on August 1, 2024. The Metropolitan Police released the images as part of an ongoing investigation into the attack.

A member of the public reportedly found the girl and provided assistance after the alleged attack.

Police appeal for information

Detective chief inspector Anna Deighton, who is leading the investigation, described the incident as an awful attack on a young girl who was targeted and subjected to sexual violence. She confirmed that inquiries are continuing two years after the event. Detective chief inspector Deighton urged anyone who recognises the men in the released CCTV images to contact the police, stressing the importance of any information, however insignificant it may seem.

Crimestoppers has offered a reward of £10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individuals responsible. Alexa Loukas, regional manager for London at Crimestoppers, highlighted that the victim and her family continue to experience the consequences of this crime. She emphasised that no young person should have their sense of safety and freedom diminished by such an attack and appealed for anyone holding information to come forward, stating it could be crucial in securing justice.
