Six bailed after woman, 23, found dead in Islington flat

A murder investigation is under way after a 23-year-old woman was found dead in a flat on Bollinder Place, Islington, on the morning of 6 August. Police were called at 09:33 following concerns for her welfare and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Six people were arrested at the address on suspicion of murder. Four women, aged 20, 21, 23 and 26, and two men, aged 21 and 24, were taken into custody. All six have since been released on bail while detectives continue their enquiries.

No wider risk to public, police say

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in Islington, said the incident appeared isolated. He told residents there was no wider risk to the public and that local officers would remain visible in the area to address concerns.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, who is leading the investigation, said officers were reviewing forensic evidence, speaking to witnesses and tracing the woman’s next of kin. Specially trained officers will support the family once identified.

Witnesses urged to come forward

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them. Detective Chief Inspector Waller said even details that seem insignificant could assist the investigation. Witnesses can call 101, quoting reference 3700/06AUG, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The woman’s identity has not been released. Police said they would not do so until her next of kin had been informed.

The six people released on bail must report back to police at a later date. The investigation remains active, with forensic examinations ongoing at the flat on Bollinder Place. Police have not set a date for when the next of kin will be informed.
