Teenager arrested after Wembley stabbing, 17-year-old victim identified

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a stabbing incident in Wembley. The arrest was made on Tuesday, 25 August, and the boy remains in police custody. Officers were called to Brent Civic Centre on Engineers Way at approximately 14:30hrs on Tuesday following reports of a stabbing. Paramedics attended the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead having sustained stab wounds. While formal identification is pending, the victim is believed to be 17-year-old David Wynter. Specially trained officers are providing support to his next-of-kin.

Enhanced Police Powers Deployed

In response to the incident, a Section 60 order has been authorised for the Wembley Park, Barnhill, Tokyngton, Stonebridge, Roundwood, Dollis Hill, Willesden, and Welsh Harp ward areas within the borough of Brent. This order grants officers enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles. The authorisation is active from 15:00hrs on Wednesday, 26 August, until 03:30hrs on Thursday, 27 August. A Section 60 order allows police to stop and search individuals without the usual requirement of reasonable suspicion, typically used when serious violence is anticipated or has occurred, or when weapons are believed to be carried.

Superintendent Chris Clarke, who is leading emergency response policing for the area, acknowledged the concern within the local community. "This was a tragic incident, and we are aware of the significant concern the stabbing has caused in the local community," he stated. A visible police presence will remain in and around the crime scene. Superintendent Clarke added that officers "do not believe there is any wider risk to the community."
