Teenager charged after Clapham e-bike hit-and-run collision

A 15-year-old boy is accused of causing serious injuries to a teenager during a hit-and-run collision in Clapham. The incident occurred on 15 June when a car struck a 16-year-old boy riding an e-bike. According to the Wandsworth Guardian, the defendant allegedly drove his mother's car without her permission at the time of the crash.

The collision resulted in the 16-year-old victim being rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Following the crash, police established cordons in the area to manage the scene. These included a closure on Clapham Park Road between The King & Co pub and Martine’s Bar & Grill, as well as a cordon between Clapham Park Road and Holwood Place. Officers also cordoned off Briarwood Road near the turn of Crescent Lane.

Court proceedings and charges

The defendant, whose identity is protected due to his age, is scheduled to appear in court on 28 July. He faces a series of charges related to the incident. These include causing grievous bodily harm with intent and wounding with intent. The Wandsworth Guardian reported that he also faces charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, using a motor vehicle without insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

The accused has been remanded in youth detention since his arrest. The legal process will continue at the upcoming hearing in late July.
