Three 14-year-old boys attacked on Mill Hill bus in antisemitic hate crime

Three 14-year-old schoolboys were attacked on a bus in Mill Hill on September 10. The Metropolitan Police are treating the incident as an antisemitic hate crime.

The attack occurred on a bus travelling near Sanders Lane on the morning of Thursday, September 10. Two of the three boys reported being physically assaulted, in addition to being verbally abused. The Metropolitan Police were alerted to the incident at 8.16am on the same day.

Police investigation

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads policing in the area, stated that the Met will not tolerate antisemitism and will respond robustly to any offences. Urgent inquiries are underway to identify the suspect, who is believed to be a white British man. The police are reviewing CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

Detective Chief Superintendent Williams added that London's Jewish communities have the right to observe upcoming High Holy Days without fear of antisemitic hate. He confirmed that patrols have been increased in the area to provide reassurance and deter those who might cause harm.

Condemnation from Transport for London

Siwan Hayward, Transport for London's security chief, condemned the attack, describing it as "horrific". She stated that acts of antisemitism on public transport will not be tolerated and that everyone has the right to travel without facing discrimination. TfL is supporting the police investigation and working with the bus operator to supply CCTV footage.
