Two brothers die after Chase Side crash; woman arrested

A 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving and failing to stop following the incident on 20 September.

A collision on Chase Side on 20 September has resulted in the deaths of two brothers. Patrick Cassidy, aged 31, passed away in hospital on Wednesday, 30 September. His older brother, William 'Bill' Cassidy, 48, succumbed to injuries he sustained in the same incident two days prior.

Injuries and Arrest

The incident also left three other passengers and a pedestrian requiring hospital treatment. Their injuries were assessed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing. A 32-year-old woman was taken into custody on Monday, 21 September. She was initially arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving with a specified controlled drug above the legal limit. During questioning, she was further arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene.

The arrested woman has since been released on bail while police enquiries continue. She is not related to any of the occupants of the vehicle involved in the collision. The Metropolitan Police's Serious Collisions Investigation Unit is leading the investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

Police Appeal for Information

Detective Inspector Simon Ager stated that the collision had tragically claimed two lives and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. He appealed to the public for any information that could assist the investigation. Specifically, police are seeking witnesses to the incident, as well as any CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the area around Chase Side on 20 September.
