Two jailed for City watch robberies, third suspect in Switzerland

Two men have been jailed for a series of violent watch robberies in the City of London, where one victim was stabbed twice. Agandy Anderson, 30, received nine years and six months, while Kayne Stewart, 27, was sentenced to four years and six months. Both were convicted for their roles in the attacks on 30 September 2024.

The robberies took place shortly before 3am on Appold Street, where two armed suspects jumped from a BMW. They confronted three people returning from a night out, brandishing knives described as 'zombie' blades. One victim had his £400 Citizen watch stolen and was stabbed twice in the buttocks.

Further attacks minutes later

Five minutes after fleeing the first scene, the gang struck again on Curtain Road. They shouted demands for watches at two men and a woman, grabbing a £400 T-Classic watch and assaulting one victim. A woman was also kicked in the head during the earlier robbery.

Anderson, who has no fixed address, and Stewart, of Milton Way in Dunstable, were identified as drivers of separate vehicles used in the robberies. City of London Police believe a third man, Dogukan Aktas, 26, was also involved. He is suspected of carrying out the stabbing and is believed to be in Switzerland.

Police continue hunt for third suspect

Detective Inspector Amy Westall of City of London Police said the force remains committed to locating Aktas. Officers are working with Interpol to secure his arrest. Westall stated that the police will use every available tool to bring him to justice and make the City a hostile environment for violent criminals.

The victim who was stabbed twice described the lasting impact of the attack. He said he now feels constant fear when out in public, distrusting strangers and feeling nervous when people look at him. His statement was read during sentencing.

What happens next

City of London Police will continue their efforts to locate Dogukan Aktas. Interpol is assisting in the search, and officers have confirmed they will pursue all available lines of inquiry. No further arrests have been made in connection with the robberies.
