Hendon action nets fly-tips, Blue Badge fraud

Barnet Council and the Metropolitan Police Service carried out a joint day of action in Hendon targeting anti-social behaviour, environmental crime, and Blue Badge misuse. The operation involved council officers from community safety, corporate anti-fraud, and parking services working alongside police.

During the patrols, officers engaged with residents and businesses to gather intelligence on local concerns and conducted targeted enforcement. The council reported that ten instances of fly-tipping were identified and are under investigation. Two offences of fly-posting were also identified.

Blue Badge and Parking Enforcement

Enforcement activity specifically focused on Blue Badge misuse. A total of 27 Blue Badges were checked, leading to the seizure of two badges. Additionally, 18 penalty charge notices were issued for parking contraventions. Reports were also submitted for graffiti removal and damage to the highway.

One man was arrested during the operation. He was wanted by the courts and was found to be in possession of cannabis. Stop-and-search actions related to cannabis possession were also recorded.

Barnet Council leader Cllr Barry Rawlings stated that residents expect action against issues impacting neighbourhoods, such as anti-social behaviour, fly-tipping, and fraudulent Blue Badge use. He thanked the officers and residents for their involvement and information sharing.

The day of action provided an opportunity for council and police teams to speak directly with local people about their concerns. Information gathered is intended to inform future enforcement and community safety initiatives within Barnet.
